Today 27 May 201 was the Launch of the UWI Translation Bureau. Actually the bureau is not new. I heard of it since 2001 but it is only today that it has become a reality.I am proud that this event took place under my headship of the department language, linguistics and literature. We offer courses in French, Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin. We also courses of translation and its theory.
The Honourable Dr Esther Byer, Barbadian minister of Work and Social Service and Human Development held the keynote speek after Dean Jennifer Obidah and I made the openning remarks. Thanks to Dr Grisel Pujala-Soto, Glindon Welch, Terrence Innice, and other colleagues.
The translattion bureau is a wing of the department's commitment to fulfilling one of the most important goals. While generating income the translation bureau will serve Barbados, the Caribbean and all other countries interested in our service. A milestone! Long life to the TB.
