"Translating Creolization" Symposium

May 28. This morning I had the pleasure to welcome our guests from different countries who have come to participate in this symposium. They came from the US, Jamaica, Trinidad, Poland, France, Brazil and even South Africa.
This week was dedicated to Translation. After yesterday's launch of the Translation Bureau, today is the symposium. Cave Hill has really become a centre in terms of translation practice and its theorization. Since we offer French, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese, translation is essential as an expression of possessing the message a language transmits.
I will all the participants in this symposium a successful and fruitful experience at Cave Hill. The symposium will end tomorrow May 29. On May 30 will be an island historic tour led by Dr Karl Watson, an expert of History and Heritage of Barbados.
