"Kwanzaa is a secular festival observed by many African Americans from December 26 to January 1 as a celebration of their cultural heritage and traditional values." (Source: www.google.com/search)
Kwanza is a practice initiated by Maulana Karenga in 1966-67. In this week of festivities, African Americans intend to mark their difference in celebrating the end of year's festivities. According to the Black Power movement Black People have endured slavery, colonization, domination, racial discrimination in a peculiar way that no other ethnic has. Therefore, this is a time to celebrating African heritage, unity (umoja) and culture.
Happy Kwanzaa to my African American and African Fellows.
